Applying to an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) or sponsored airline programme can be a daunting task for any aspiring young pilot.

To help, the Honourable Company of Air Pilots (HCAP) has a new, one-day initiative aimed at guiding prospective pilots through the process.

It’s an informal course and the day will cover:

  • Industry outlook
  • Pilot competencies
  • Written application (including CVs)
  • Numerical reasoning tests
  • Video interviews and in-person interviews
  • Group assessments
  • Pilot Aptitude Testing

“Every attendee will receive tailored advice and guidance according to their personal circumstances to give them the best chance of success at an airline assessment day,” said HCAP.

“The event will be run by industry experts who have been involved in pilot recruitment for decades utilising techniques and tests used by major airlines.”

The assessment day is open to all but there are just 12 places available, which will be allotted on a first come, first served basis. There will be a waiting list available for short notice changes.

Cost for the day is £145. No profit will be made from the event and any money remaining after costs will be used to fund flying scholarships.

The confirmed date and venue:

18th August 2025
Stelios Philanthropic Foundation
34 Thurloe Square
South Kensington
London SW7 2SR
